Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by buttering it and lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine softened butter and white sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, blending well. Mix in sour cream, vanilla extract, and banana extract until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture while mixing on low speed. Fold in mashed bananas until evenly distributed.
  4. Pour the banana batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22 to 25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool on a wire rack.
  5. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  6. Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled banana bars evenly for a beautiful finish. Let set before slicing to serve.
