Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 1 9-inch Pre-made Pie Crust For a fresher taste, consider using a homemade crust.
For the Filling
  • 8 slices Bacon Thick-cut bacon works best for optimal texture.
  • 1 cup Swiss Cheese Shredded; fresh grating yields the best results.
  • 4 large Eggs Using room temperature eggs ensures better mixing.
  • 1.5 cups Heavy Cream Substitute with half-and-half for a lighter option.
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground pepper enhances flavor.
  • 0.125 teaspoon Nutmeg Freshly grated nutmeg offers the best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Chives Chopped; green onions can be a great substitute.

Equipment

  • Pie Dish
  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add the eight slices of bacon and cook until crispy, about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and chop into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Roll out your pre-made pie crust and gently fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim overhanging edges and prick the bottom with a fork.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped bacon evenly over the pie crust, followed by shredded Swiss cheese. Pour the egg mixture gently over the bacon and cheese.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped fresh chives over the top for color and flavor.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the filling is set around the edges and golden brown on top.
  8. Allow the quiche to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
