Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by seasoning the bone-in chicken thighs generously with onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, fresh thyme, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Once shimmering, place the chicken thighs skin-side down into the skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced red onion and Honeycrisp apples, stirring occasionally for about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add the salted butter to the skillet and let it melt. Stir in the apple cider, chicken broth or white wine, Dijon mustard, and extra garlic powder.
  5. Return the seared chicken thighs to the skillet, cover with a lid, and roast in a preheated oven set to 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Once cooked, remove chicken from the skillet and simmer the remaining sauce for 5-7 minutes until it thickens.
