Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x12-inch casserole dish.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic, chili powder, and cumin, cooking for an additional minute.
- Add the cooked shredded chicken and toss to combine, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, blend green salsa and sour cream until smooth.
- Layer ¾ cup of the salsa verde mixture in the casserole dish, followed by half the tortillas, half the chicken mixture, 1 cup of salsa verde, and ½ cup of cheese.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients, ending with the cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
